Le pli du temps alias The work to come
Dance piece and choreographic experiment together with Emma Marie Bruun, Benjamin Melot, Fiona Kutscher, Lisa Haucke and Edgar Lessig
Developed and performed at Tanzfabrik Berlin, 2023
What happens when six people share all the roles involved in creating a dance piece? What if we agree not to know what the piece will be until the very last moment? What if no single person makes the decisions, but instead, everything is decided collectively? What if the piece follows the process rather than the other way around? And what if that process is guided entirely by the desires of those involved?
What if the sun is shining, and we’d rather go to the lake than spend the day in the studio? What if some of us are out of town?
In the end, we all shared the desire to dance—and on performance day, something took shape on stage, something that unmistakably resembles what we would call a dance piece.
The process was exhausting—despite all the freedom and our commitment to following our desires. Yet, it was also deeply enriching, offering insights that extended beyond this experiment. It became a reminder to continually ask also during more structured processes: What is needed right now? And to stay open and curious about how changing conditions might transform the work itself.
