The beach is accessible at low tide is a durational performance which took place on "Dauerwelle", the floating exhibition space of the University of the Arts in Bremen, during the interdisciplinary festival "Adrift".
The performance followed the natural rhythm of the Weser’s tides, embracing the shifting temporality of the river where "Dauerwelle" is moored. On June 10, 2023, it unfolded from 8:44 AM to 3:34 PM (ebb). On June 12, 2023, it took place from 5:37 PM to 11:06 PM (flood).
Etymologically, “Weser” originates from a word meaning “the flowing one,” while the prefix "ge-" (as in Gezeiten [tides]) conveys unity, interconnectedness, and an ongoing process.
The river’s flow is shaped by a convergence of forces—intertwined, mutually dependent—some of which also course through human bodies.
This performance seeks to engage with the Weser’s temporality, not merely observing its movement but moving with it, becoming part of its rhythmic ebb and flow.
